Pixologic has released ZBrush 2020.1, a free bugfix and workflow update to its digital sculpting software.
Run updater.exe to install the update (first copy it from the ZBrush 2020.1.1 update folder to the ZBrush 2020 installation directory, the default is C:Program FilesPixologicZBrush 2020).
- ZBrush 2020 empowers artists with greater sculpting flexibility via powerful additions to the award winning brush system. We have expanded the library of sculpting brushes with the new XTractor, HistoryRecall and DecoCurve brushes. In addition, you can now constrain your brush strokes to only forward gestures with the new No Back&Forth modifier.
- Pixologic has released updates for both ZBrush 2020.1 and ZBrushCore 2020, bringing both to version 2020.1.1 providing significant enhancements in a number of areas. ZBrush 2020.1 changes and improvements ZBrush ZBrush 2020.1 Fixed: Additional edit point added when holding Spacebar with any brush that makes use of the Ctrl+Shift combination.
- The UI for ZBrush is the same as what you’re already used to with ZBrushCore; it simply has more options available to you. Also, everything that you have created using ZBrushCore will open in ZBrush. The transition is seamless! Your specific path to move up to ZBrush will depend on which type of ZBrushCore license you have.
- Upgrading to ZBrushCore 2020.1.4 is free. If you have ZBrushCore 2018 or above, download the 2020.1.4 installer from My Licenses as described in the ' ZBrush 2018 or Above' section above. If My Licenses only says 'ZBrushCore' for your license key and does not have a version number then you have the original ZBrushCore release and must upgrade.
The release extends or modifies some of the features introduced in ZBrush 2020, last year’s major update to the software, including the option to choose custom colours in Draft Analysis mode.
In addition, Clip, Slice and Trim brushes can no longer be used in the new Morph UV mode, which enables users to UV unfold the SubTool selected, then sculpt or paint directly on the flattened surface.
There are also a number of smaller workflow changes and improvements – the Lasso Select brush now permits larger selections – and over 20 fixes to ZBrush and its built-in plugins.
Pricing and system requirements
ZBrush 2020.1 is available for 64-bit Windows Vista and above and Mac OS X 10.10 and above. The update is free to all registered users.
