Copy your DOOM.WAD (or DOOM2.WAD, PLUTONIA.WAD, TNT.WAD, etc.) file into your Doom95 folder, if you haven't already done so. Start Doom 95, and in the 'Doom for Windows 95 Launcher' window, select the correct 'Game WAD file' (DOOM.WAD, DOOM2.WAD, etc.) in the pull-down menu at the upper right corner of the window. Compiled by iD Software in response to various commercial Doom wad collections like D!Zone, the Master Levels for DOOM II was intended to be the largest mega-collection of additional Doom maps (the 'Maximum Doom' collection), plus twenty new official maps (the 'Master Levels').
The 'Master Levels' are twenty stand-alone maps from independent level designers commissioned by iD. There is no overall campaign or an attempt to tie the levels together, though some of the levels from the same designer do have a connected story of their own.'Maximum Doom' is a collection of 201 .wads (map packs with varying numbers of levels inside) for the original Doom and 1,629 wads for Doom II, leading to the package's claim of 3,000 total new levels. These wads are not commissioned by iD or made by professional designers, and no claim is made as to these being the 'most popular' or 'best designed' homebrew levels available. The maps were gathered from various free or FTP sites on the Internet; however, the time and dial-up cost for a player to find and download the same collection of .wads themselves would have been substantial.

Come to think of it, when I played Brutal doom, the command line stuff worked as well...

(that's meant to be one line and it should work anywhere, even on your desktop if you include the path & install everything to those paths^)
Again, if memory serves. I just put that into a batch file so I didn't have to open command prompt and type it in manually every time.
The GUI version for setting maps up is confusing with dozens of check boxes and tabs...After initial setup I just use the command line in the form of a batch file. Hope that helps a desperate person out there! One more tip...when you get it set up perfectly, copy the entire directory over to a DVD so that you have the game in working order ready to play, read to be copied back onto your HDD later.
PS windows always says that batch files are evil and will turn your computer into a frog...they work fine and are nothing to be afraid of.

I haven't played a wad in years but in vanilla doom(actual commercial release) you just type
Doom -file clevermapname.wad
Or for doom 2:
Doom2 -file clevermapname.wad
Be aware that some maps are doom1 and some are doom2 maps. Doom 2 engine I think runs both? But I know the doom1 engine will not run doom2 maps because of the missing textures and sprites. I do find it weird that there are people using doom who don't know how to pass parameters into an exe from dos. But maybe that's just more 'get off my lawn' age showing.

It is not working for me either, and with so many people having problems I do not think it is as easy a clicking on the 'how to play' button at the bottom of this page as someone suggested. I am using a IMac and Boxer. The 'game' loads. I run it and I get a menu screen. In the first screen I can choose Doom1 or Doom2. Either choice results in a new screen with a 'PWAD List', a window saying 'levels replaced' and an empty 'description' window. You can choose between the PWAD (.wad) list, but what ever choice you make results in a program error. I suspect a person would need to download the original Doom and replace some of the files in that game to make this work.

For those who can't run it, extract the .wad and drag it on top of a source port like GZDOOM or Zanundroum. It should be playing then, plus you can get mouselook, which is very handy.

Suggestion: For Doom 2 download link, can you put 1.9 version instead of 1.666 pirated version? I mean I already have that 1.666 version since I was kid and I want to have 1.9 version in original EXE form but on my original Collector's Edition CD, I only have shitty Doom95 source port and no original DOS exes. Can you do that? Maybe you will find original ISO for the game and get the original install files from there. What do you think?

@DERP Sometimes Antivirus failed to check some abandonwares...
Open install.bat with a text editor, you'll see there is nothing like a trojan.
And FYI, there is no effective antivirus alone, use a multi engine service online like http://www.virscan.org/scan/486fd194fc8ef9ec5227cbb859d09bdb to check files. You'll have a trustable check of your file.
